Our first visit to Jamaica

During the last several years our family has had the opportunity to vacation at the charming, Jamaica Inn between Christmas and New Years Holiday.

This is a festive time, and this island gem of a resort is the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a great beach, warm weather, accommodations, food and beverages, and Spa treatments. Shadow; a Black Labrador Retriever, is the resorts unofficial greeter and is at the ready to help you frolic on the beach; an amiable dog who is a welcomed replacement for our pet that we left behind in California.

The highlight of our trip is their New Year’s Eve Buffet Celebration, featuring Island Specialities and other fine foods and beverages. Someone from the staff told me about the riviera maya deep sea fishing in Cozumel that sounds fun! Dance the night away with live music.

We loved the cabanas on the quiet beach.., the complimentary ice cold rum punch….snorkeling was fantastic, right off the shore, around the coral banks, saw many different species of fish. There were also other included water sports to partake, sailing, paddle boards, kayaks, fishing.

The beach lifeguards are very helpful in setting you up. My husband played a round of croquet with one of the beach bartenders, it was fun to watch and learn the game. Now to the evening, after watching the spectacular sunsets, we ventured up to the open air, under the moon and stars, the restaurant area. (there is also enclosed the area in case of rain)…it was very romantic. They’d have a good band every night, danceable, and fun.

The food was fantastic, the service was top notch. All the waiters were charming, some were funny. I loved the history of this place that many stars and dignitaries frequented Jamaica Inn, and we almost felt like one ourselves by the way they treated us! All around it was a perfect stay for us, and We hope to go back soon to visit our new Jamaican family.

Amazing stay. We requested taxis to go to downtown Ocho Rios and Kingston, and the drivers stayed with us the entire time. Scotchies is the place to go for jerk chicken and jerk pork. Got to visit the Bob Marley Museum, Usain Bolt’s statue, Fort Charles way over in Port Royal, among other places.
